Theft Trial Against Former North West Head Of SCCU Commences

The trial against the former Head of the Specialized Commercial Crimes Unit (SCCU), in the North West, Adv. Jeanette Nevelling (53), commenced at the Molopo Magistrate’s Court. She was arrested on 16 February 2021, on an allegation of shoplifting at a retail shop, at The Crossing Shopping Mall in Mmabatho.  She allegedly stole clothing and food items valued at approximately R3000, and she was granted R500 bail.

Maekisa Family Gets Justice For Senseless Killing Of Their Daughter

The High Court of South Africa, Gauteng Local Division, Johannesburg sentenced an admitted murderer to 30 years imprisonment. Khopotso Danny Mokholobotho, pleaded guilty to murder, defeating the ends of justice and theft. He was sentenced to 20 years for murder, three years for defeating the ends of justice and seven years for theft. The sentences on the counts of theft and defeating the ends of justice were ordered to run concurrently, with the sentence of the murder charge, resulting in an effective imprisonment term of 20 years.

Man Sentenced To Life Imprisonment For Killing His Toddler

The High Court of South Africa has sentenced Vusumzi Pothelwa, to effective life imprisonment after the presiding officer described him as a cold killer and a danger to society, who should be removed from society. On 26 April 2022, Pothelwa was convicted for the murder of his eight-month-old daughter, Khwezi, whom he doused with paraffin, before setting her alight in Du Noon, in November 2019. He was also convicted of attempting to murder his former girlfriend, Sivuyisive Mtshengu, assaulting her and arson.

Lusikisiki Man Sentenced To Life For Raping A Minor

The Lusikisiki Regional Court, sentenced Mzonjani Nodantile (25), to life imprisonment for raping his four-year-old girl.  The victim was known to him, as they stayed in the same neighbourhood in Mthambalala Area.  On 14 April 2016, the victim was playing outside with her peers, when Nodantile called her to his room.  He locked the door and raped the preschool child.

Three In Court For Pyramid Scheme

Ashlin Hardin, Raj Hardin and Shakila Hardin appeared in the Durban Specialised Commercial Crimes Court today, on charges of fraud amounting to approximately R7.8 million. They are also charged with the Contravention of the Banks Act and the Financial Advisory And Intermediary Services (FAIS) Act. They appeared together with four companies.

Case Against Orkney Suspected Illegal Miners Set For Pre-Trial

The Stilfontein Regional Court postponed the case against the eighty-seven(87) suspected illegal miners, arrested at shaft 2 in Orkney to 06 July 2022, for pre-trial conferencing. The state and the defence attorney are expected to exchange all the necessary documents and other pending matters in preparation for trial, and subsequently, a trial date will be decided upon.

Trial Set For High Court For Suspected Police Murderers

The Itsoseng Regional Court postponed the case against the four men accused of killing two police officers, in Mareetsane to 25 July 2022, for a high court appearance. Their defence team was provided with an indictment, detailing all charges against the accused. Investigations have been completed and a pre-trial date is expected to be set when the matter appears in court.
