NPA Collaborates With DPCI To Deliver On Its Commitment To Enrol Seminal Matters As Part Of Its Ongoing Response To State Capture And High-Level Corruption

The National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) committed to enrolling nine seminal matters before the end of September 2022 as part of its constitutional mandate to take decisive and visible action against high-level corruption and state capture. 

Transnet Ex Group Ceo Brian Molefe And Former Cfo Anoj Singh And Others Arrested On Transnet Related R398.4 Million Fraud And Corruption Charges

Group Chief Executive of Transnet Brian Molefe, former Group Chief Financial Officer Anoj Singh, Regiments Capital Directors Niven Pillay and Litha Nyhonhya appeared before the Palm Ridge Specialised Crimes Court this morning after their arrest by the NPA’s Investigating Directorate, assisted by the Hawks.

The former Transnet executives and their co-accused are charged with contravention of the PFMA and fraud, while the other accused are charged with fraud, corruption and money laundering. 

Two Men Were Sentenced To Direct Imprisonment For Corruption

Mpumalanga: The Nelspruit Specialized Commercial Crimes Court has today convicted and sentenced Robert Reginald Booth(53) and Barry Victor Welgemoed(35),  both from Nelspruit to eight years imprisonment for corruption. This was after the pair pleaded guilty to the offence, which was committed on 16 March 2022, at Kingston Valley Farm, near Karino in Nelspruit.

Life And 20 Years Imprisonment For Robbery And Murder Of Elderly Man

The Umlazi Regional Court, sentenced Lungile Qoza and Ntombikayise Khambule, to life and 20 years imprisonment for July 2020 murder, of an 81-year-old man in the Engoyameni area, near Umlazi. Qoza worked for the victim, Mohammed Salajee, who hailed from the Chatsworth area. On the day of the incident, he left his home with R150000, intended to pay for a property he planned to purchase. Qoza knew about this, and colluded with Khambule and a hitman, to rob him of the money.

An Elderly Man Who Attempted “Ukuthwala” An 18-Year-Old Was Sentenced To Life And 17 Years

The Greytown Regional Court, sentenced a 60-year-old man to life and 17 years imprisonment, following his conviction of rape, two counts of sexual assault and kidnapping. The man knew the victim’s relatives as they attended the same church. The victim was 17 years old at the time and lived with her relatives as she is an orphan.
