NPA, State Capture Commission solidify collaboration
The National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) and State Capture Commission say the two entities are committed to working together to ensure a “seamless transition” from the work of the commission to possible prosecutions arising from it.
Already, the majority of cases and investigations by the NPA’s Investigating Directorate (ID) have come as a result of the commission’s work.
NPA And Eskom Commit To Collaborate On State Capture Cases
Today the National Director of Public Prosecutions, Adv Shamila Batohi and her top leadership team met with the CEO of Eskom, Mr André de Ruyter and members of his executive team, at the NPA head office. The meeting was arranged to discuss appropriate collaboration on state capture cases and other organised crimes against Eskom. Holding to account those most responsible is a priority for both entities, considering the devastating impact these crimes are having on SA’s development and economic prospects, and which disproportionately affect the poor and the vulnerable.

BLOEMFONTEIN: The Asset Forfeiture Unit (AFU) was granted a forfeiture order of R18 million, that was fraudulently paid into South African bank accounts by Lesotho government officials, who allegedly siphoned approximately R50 million from state coffers through a well-orchestrated scheme, in which they inflated and diverted payments meant for suppliers to themselves and their companies, which had not rendered any services to the state.

The trial of a traditional healer from Warrenton has been adjourned to 23 June 2022, by the Magistrates’ Court sitting in Warrenton. The 77-year-old man, who at the time of the commissioning of the crime was 76 years old, was arrested in January 2021, after the child of his client accused him of rape.
