Serial rapist sentenced to five life terms

The High Court of South Africa, Gauteng Local Division, Johannesburg sentenced Happy Mukwevho to five life terms plus 222 years imprisonment on charges of rape, kidnapping, robbery with aggravating circumstances, housebreaking with intent to rape, attempted robbery, possession of a dangerous weapon and pointing of what is believed to be a firearm. The court ordered the sentences to run concurrently and declared the accused unfit to possess a firearm.

The Bloemhof Regional Court sentenced Pule Kgosimore (40) to double life imprisonment on two counts of rape, 15 years for rape and a further 5 years for house breaking. The court ordered for his name to be entered into the register of sexual offenders and declared him unfit to possess a firearm, and also unfit to work with children and the elderly.

The Groblersdal Regional Court sentenced Shonono Amos Sibande (44) to life imprisonment following the conviction of rape of an eight-year-old girl. On the day of the incident on 02 September 2020, the accused was working at the victim’s homestead at Tafelkop, in Dipakapakeng village. He was employed to erect the wall and to clean the yard. The young girl was left alone in the house by the mother watching television.
