SOSHANGUVE MAN SENTENCED TO 15 YEARS DIRECT IMPRISONMENT FOR MURDER
The National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) welcomes the sentence of 15 years' direct imprisonment handed down by the Pretoria North Magistrates’ Court to Tebogo Boikie Selowa (31), from Soshanguve, for the murder of Tshireltetso Mananmela (20). The court also ordered that he be declared unfit to possess a firearm.

LENGTHY SENTENCE FOR MURDER AND ROBBERY OF FORMER POLICE OFFICER
Theunissen, Free State – The Theunissen Regional Court has convicted and sentenced Terry Jabulani Ngomane (37) for the murder and robbery with aggravating circumstances of a pensioner and former police officer, following a brutal attack on 13 May 2018.

TEACHER SENTENCED TO LIFE IMPRISONMENT FOR RAPE OF A LEARNER IN CLASS DURING SCHOOL HOURS
Worcester, South Africa, The Worcester Regional Court has sentenced Jeremy Claasen, a teacher, to life imprisonment following his conviction for the rape of a Grade 8 learner who he raped in class during school hours. The State does not name the victim due to the nature of the charges; she was a minor at the time of the offence, and to avoid secondary victimisation.

15-YEAR PRISON SENTENCE FOR RAPE FOLLOWING NIGHT OF DRINKING
Kuruman, Northern Cape – The Kuruman Regional Court has convicted and sentenced Tshwarelo Maibere (28) from Sedibeng, near Kuruman, to 15 years' imprisonment for rape, in terms of Section 51(2) of the Criminal Law Amendment Act 105 of 1997.

NPA CONFIRMS DECISION NOT TO PROSECUTE ANYONE IN MATATIELE CASE
The National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) confirms that in November 2024, a case docket was presented to prosecutors in Matatiele Magistrates' Court as well as to the case manager at the Matatiele Thuthuzela Care Centre in the Eastern Cape. The docket contained information with suspicions of sexual assault on a minor girl.

LIMPOPO FATHER AND FRIEND SENTENCED FOR RAPING AND ABUSING MINOR DAUGHTERS
Polokwane, Limpopo – The Polokwane High Court has sentenced a 39-year-old father to life imprisonment for the rape, sexual exploitation, and assault of his two minor daughters, aged 9 and 11 at the time of the crimes. He also received three and five years for two counts of assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.
