Former police officer appears in court for corruption 

A 39-year-old man, sergeant Tawana Daniel Masetla stationed at the Sebayeng Police Station has appeared in Mankweng Magistrates'Court for corruption.

Life sentence and 43 years for rapist 

The Verulam Regional Court sentenced Vusi Simon Myandu (34), to life and 43 years imprisonment for the rape, robbery, kidnapping and sexual assault of a 46-year-old woman in the Mount Moriah area in May 2020. He committed the offences in concert with a co-accused, who died before the start of the trial. The state managed to successfully charge Myandu for the rape committed by his erstwhile co-conspirator, by proving that they acted for a common purpose.

Life sentence for rapist

The Ntuzuma Regional Court has sentenced Bonisile Cele (29), to life imprisonment life for the rape of a 30-year-old woman in the Inanda area in June 2022. On the day of the incident, the complainant was in the company of her friend when they were approached by Cele and another man.

Man sentenced to life imprisonment for raping ex-lover

The Mogwase Regional Court sentenced Thabo William Modibedi (39) to life imprisonment for raping his ex-lover. The court declared him unfit to posses a firearm, unfit to work with children and for his name to be added to the national register of sexual offenders.

AFU and SIU granted order to preserve assets linked to corruption at the National Lotteries Commission (NLC)

The Asset Forfeiture Unit (AFU) of the National Prosecuting Authority and the Special Investigating Unit (SIU) have obtained a preservation order from the High Court of South Africa: Gauteng Division, Pretoria, to preserve properties and luxury vehicles linked to the siphoning of millions of rands from the National Lotteries Commission (NLC).
