15 YEARS IMPRISONMENT FOR TAX OFFENDER
The Pietermaritzburg Regional Court has sentenced Juan Mark Maritz (62) to an effective 15 years imprisonment following his conviction on eight counts of Value Added Tax (VAT) fraud amounting to approximately R3.6 million. The entity, Jed-Con Construction Maintenance (Jed-Con) was also charged with eight counts of VAT fraud. Maritz is the sole member of Jed-Con and he is also the sole signatory of the bank account held by Jed-Con.

Oupa Ronald Madondo (Madondo) was born on 20 May 1948 in Sophiatown, Johannesburg. Due to the forced removals from Sophiatown, his family was relocated to Dube, Soweto, in 1958. He was recruited into the African National Congress (ANC) in the early 1970’s. Madondo was arrested on two separate occasions being June of 1978 and September of 1979.

The Ngwelezane Regional Court has sentenced Vumani China Nxumalo (36) and Mduduzi Zulu (34) to two terms of life imprisonment for the two murders they committed in January 2023 and January 2024 in the Empangeni Rail area. Zulu was sentenced to an additional six months' imprisonment for assault.

Limpopo, South Africa – The Musina Regional Court has sentenced Zimbabwean national, Zakhele Hadebe (51), to 34 years’ imprisonment for tampering with essential infrastructure, theft of non-ferrous metal forming part of essential infrastructure, contravention of the Immigration Act, and trespassing.

“PASTRY CHEF” KILLER SENTENCED TO 15 YEARS FOR MURDER
Johannesburg – The High Court of South Africa, Gauteng Division in Johannesburg, has convicted and sentenced Sibusiso Zitha (41) for the murder of his former girlfriend, Thembekile Letlape, affectionately known as The Pastry Chef. The sentence comes Zitha pleaded guilty to the charge and was accordingly found guilty as charged and sentenced to 15 years.

The Dundee Regional Court has sentenced Siphamandla Ndlovu (38), Nkosingiphile Kunene (39), and Nosipho Francisca Kunene (23) to various terms of imprisonment for the murder of Mhlonipheni Elphas Buthelezi (50) in Kunene Farm in Dundee in December 2023. Their co-accused, Bongiwe Mthombeni (36), was convicted of assault.

Polokwane, Limpopo – The Limpopo High Court sitting in Polokwane has sentenced William Ramoadi Minyuku (42) from Mshongo village in Zebediela to five life terms and an additional 165 years’ imprisonment on 23 charges, including rape, housebreaking, kidnapping, and robbery with aggravating circumstances.
