Man Sentenced To 40 Years For Rape

The Calvinia Regional Court has sentenced Alfred Swartz (50), of the area of Brandvlei near Calvinia in the Northern Cape, to 40 years, after finding him guilty on numerous charges of rape. The accused was charged with 2 counts of statutory rape and 4 counts of rape, with one of his victims, being his biological daughter. These incidents which took several years began in 2013, when the accused had sexual intercourse with a child under the age of 16 years, with her consent.

The Case Against The Accused Son Awaits DDP's Decision

The Koster Magistrates’ Court, postponed the case against Thabang Moswane (24), to 01 September 2022, to await the decision of the Director of Public Prosecutions(DPP), on transferring the case to the High Court of South Africa; North West Division.  The post-mortem report has been completed and only the photo album is still outstanding, for investigations to be completed.

Two Suspects Appeared In Court For Allegedly Killing Collins Chabane Mayor

Two accused, Shumani Nemadodzi(47) and Avhatakali Mulaudzi(42), have appeared in Malamulele Magistrates' Court, for the murder of Mayor of Collins Chabane Municipality, Councilor Moses Maluleke (56). They are facing the following charges: robbery with aggravating circumstances, murder, attempted murder, and possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition. 

Post Office Alleged Robber Applies For Bail

The accused in the Post Office armed robbery, Frans Dillon Morakile, has appeared in the Galeshewe District Court, where he formally applied for bail. The accused is facing a charge of robbery, with aggravating circumstances. The 27-year-old is accused of having robbed the Post Office Branch, in Mankurwaneng near Kimberley.

George Man Sentenced To 15 Years For Murder

The George Regional Court has sentenced Sithembile Nokwe, to 15 years imprisonment, after the Prosecutor argued that he was a danger to society, and deserved no other sentence than the befitting prescribed minimum sentence for murder. Nokwe was convicted for the murder of Asanda Mnabisa after he stabbed him several times while they were sitting in the back seat of a friend’s vehicle arguing.

Theft Case Against Former North West SCCU Head Trial Set For September

The Molopo Magistrates’ Court postponed the trial against the former Head of the Specialized Commercial Crimes Unit (SCCU), in the North West, Adv. Jeanette Nevelling (54), to 06-07 September 2022. Two of the state witnesses who are employees of the retail store, where the alleged crime happened have completed giving testimony. The state is expected to call more witnesses, when the matter resumes in September 2022.

Suspects In Mareetsane Police Murderer’s Case Set For Pre-Trial

The High Court of South Africa; North West Division, postponed the case against the four men accused of killing two police officers, in Mareetsane to 16 August 2022, for pre-trial. Their defence team was provided with an indictment, detailing all charges against the accused. Investigations have been completed and the state and the defence attorneys are expected to complete all outstanding matters before the trial can resume.

Creche Robber Sentenced To 12 Years Imprisonment

The New Brighton Regional Court has sentenced Lukhanyo Ndeya (22) to twelve years imprisonment for robbery with aggravating circumstances of a daycare centre. The court declared him unfit to possess a firearm. On 17 September 2021, Ndeya entered the daycare premises, with his face uncovered. He pretended as if he was looking for a minor child, but once inside, he threatened the owner of the centre with a knife, demanding money and cell phones

Two Former Bank Employees Appear In Court For A R1 Million Theft

Two women, Florida Owusu and Abongile Tyusha, both aged 28, briefly appeared in the Gqeberha Specialised Commercial Crimes Court today. The two former ABSA bank employees were charged with 31 counts of fraud, 80 theft charges and 90 counts of money laundering.

NPA Extradites Accused Wanted For Farm Murder In Bonnievale

On 27 July 2022, three Lesotho nationals, Moeketsi Hlaudi, Kekekso Ntsabisa and Thabiso Ramollo, appeared at the Bonnievale Magistrates Court, following their successful extradition from Lesotho to South Africa. The state prosecutor, Adv Megan Blows, informed the court that the three accused face charges of murder, attempted murder, and robbery with aggravating circumstances as well as the unlawful possession of firearms and ammunition.
