Push Back Against GBV+F Pays Dividends As Another Rapist And Murderer Was Sentenced To Three Life Terms

The fight against gender-based violence received a much-desired boost as rapist and murderer, Leonard Mzingeli, was sentenced to three life terms and 15 years imprisonment. The High Court of South Africa: Western Cape Division convicted Mzingeli, on two counts of rape, attempted murder and murder. He was sentenced to life imprisonment for the rape of Grace Mafadu,  15 years imprisonment for her attempted murder, life imprisonment for the rape of Amahle Quku, and life imprisonment for her murder.

Court Denies Bail To Man Accused Of Raping A Minor

The Jan Kempsdorp Magistrates’ Court has denied bail, to Aobakwe Johnny, who is facing a charge of rape. The 26-year-old suspect is accused of having raped a 08-year-old girl, in the town of Jan Kempsdorp which is 100kms from the City of Kimberley. It is alleged that on 01 March 2022, the accused raped the minor near her home in Masakeng.

Life Imprisonment Imprisonment For Murder Of Girlfriend

Thabo Raymond Maake (39), was sentenced to life imprisonment by the High Court of South Africa, Gauteng Local Division, Johannesburg for killing his girlfriend, Thokozile Sinah Kubheka. Maake was sentenced to three years for malicious injury to property (MITP), 12 months for assault with intent to inflict grievous bodily harm and life imprisonment for murder, with the sentences imposed for MITP and assault ordered to run concurrently with the one imposed for murder.

Life Imprisonment For Murder Of Girlfriend

The Rapist And Murderer Were Sentenced To Two Life Terms And Six Years Imprisonment

The High Court of South Africa: Western Cape Division has sentenced a rapist and double murder accused, David Van Boven, to two life terms and 31 years imprisonment, and Judge Judith Cloete, described him as a very disturbed and dangerous person. Van Boven was sentenced following his conviction for the gruesome attack on Theology student, Jess Hess, and her grandfather Chris Lategan, on the morning of 30 August 2019.

Six Officials Appeared In Court For Vehicle Licencing Fraud

Six licensing department officials, Xoliswa Celia Ngelwane (51), Nompumelelo Winnie Nxumalo (44), Nkosinathi Samuel Gumede (37), Agnes Nozipho Ndzinisa (53), Thembi Millicent Motlohi (42) and Alman Thabang Masuku 42, appeared before the Nelspruit Specialized Commercial Crimes Court today, for fraud worth over R 59 million.

Kestell Farm Murder Case Adjourned To Secure Legal Aid Services

BLOEMFONTEIN: The Kestell Magistrates’ court, has today postponed the case against two men accused of killing seven people at Lismore farm, outside Kestell to Wednesday, 20 July 2022,  for the accused to get a Legal Aid Attorney.

Accused In Court For Allegedly Terrorising Alexandra Residences

Twelve men between the ages of 18 and 25, appeared at the Alexandra Magistrates’ Court, facing two counts of murder, four counts of attempted murder, possession of the stolen property, robbery with aggravating circumstances, and possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition.

Gender-Based Violence Perpetrator Sentenced To 20 Years

A gender-based violence perpetrator, Linda Makhanya, was sentenced to an effective 20 years imprisonment, by the Roodepoort Magistrates’ Court on 15 July 2022, for violence perpetrated against his ex-girlfriend, Sonto Radebe. He was convicted on four counts (rape, theft and two attempted murders). Makhanya and the complainant were in a relationship, that ended in June 2017.
