Senior Government Officials' Cases Await A Suitable Date To Be Transferred To The High Court

The Former Head of the Department (HOD) for the Northern Cape Department of Finance, Economic Development, and Tourism; Patrick Seboko (66), and three senior officials of the department, Senior Manager: Project Team (responsible for Diamond Strategy); Tebogo Gaborone (60), Chief Director: Trade and Sector Development; Susan Wyngaard (56) and Chief Financial Officer (CFO); Kuberin Packirisamy(60), have made a brief appearance in the Specialised Commercial Crimes Court in Kimberley today.

Sentenced Proceedings Postponed Pending Further Report

The four men, Vusi Reginald Mathibela (36), known as Vusi Khekhe, Sipho Patrick Hudla (40), Matamela Robert Mutapa (46) and Bongani Paul Khumalo (48), were convicted of killing a businessman Wandile Bozwana, appeared at the Pretoria High Court, for sentencing proceedings. However, their legal representatives asked the court for a further postponement, and expert the witness to consult with the accused, and the recipient of the signed judgement. 

Attorney Theft Case Adjourned For Negotiations

The Rustenburg Regional Court postponed the case against Betty Diale(52), to 29 August 2022, for negotiations. She is out on a warning and has been cautioned not to interfere with the state witnesses.  The matter was set for a pre-trial, however, her defence attorney indicated to the court that they intend to enter negotiations, with the state about the charges. The state did not oppose the postponement.

Hefty Sentences For Robbers

The Ladysmith Regional Court, sentenced Siphesihle Majola(33), Sibusiso Dladla (39), Nduduzo Xulu (22), Thulani Mbhele (42), Sithembiso Mbuyazi (36) and Bongani Nxumalo (35), to 15 years imprisonment each, for the robbery they committed in Ladysmith in November 2019.

One Accused Was Sentenced In The Deacon Murder Case

The Limpopo Polokwane High Court has sentenced a 41-year-old man, Leshate Lazarus Mahlo, of Ga Makanye village, to 22 years of direct imprisonment, for robbery with aggravating circumstances and two counts of murder. The accused, Lazarus pleaded guilty to two counts of murder, and robbery with aggravating circumstances, he was convicted and sentenced as charged.

GBV Accused Sentenced To Life Imprisonment For Rape

The De Aar Regional Court. has sentenced Monde Nyeshe (33), to life imprisonment for rape. The accused who had a previous conviction of rape, in 2008, where he was sentenced to 7 years imprisonment, before being released on parole, was facing four counts of rape. On the night of 05 December 2012, the accused met the complainant at a tavern at night and escorted her to her house.  Along the way, the accused asked the complainant to stop at his house, so that he could fetch a jacket.

Post Office Alleged Robber Granted Bail

The Galeshewe District Court has granted bail to Frans Dillon Morakile (27), accused in the Post Office armed robbery. The accused is facing a charge of robbery, with aggravating circumstances. It is alleged that on the day of the commissioning of the crime, the accused together with his accomplice, entered the Post Office where they accosted and pointed employees with firearms.
