COURT DELIVERS GUILTY VERDICT IN THE JULIUS MALEMA CASE


Mr Julius Malema has been found guilty of unlawful possession of a firearm, unlawful possession of ammunition, discharge of a firearm in a built-up area, failure to take reasonable precautions to person or property and reckless endangerment to person or property. The judgment reaffirms the NPA’s commitment to upholding the rule of law and proper administration of justice, without fear or favour.

KROONSTAD MAN SENTENCED TO LIFE IMPRISONMENT FOR RAPE AND KIDNAPPING

Kroonstad, Free State – The National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) in the Free State welcomes the sentence handed down by the Kroonstad Regional Court against Reamohetsoe Changisa (22), who was convicted of two counts of rape (common purpose) and one count of kidnapping. The court sentenced Changisa to life imprisonment for the two counts of rape and an additional five years’ imprisonment for kidnapping.

East London, Eastern Cape - The East London Commercial Crimes Court sentenced a motorist, Xolani Somtsewu (47) and former police sergeant Mandlenkosi Njekanye (52) to an effective 15-year direct imprisonment each for their central roles in a failed attempt to defraud the Road Accident Fund (RAF) of R5.4 million.

FOUR LIFE TERMS PLUS 50 YEARS FOR GQEBERHA MAN WHO MURDERED A CIVILIAN AND FIRED AT POLICE

Gqeberha, Eastern Cape: The High Court of South Africa, Eastern Cape Division, Gqeberha, has sentenced Lunga Skweyiya (37) to four life terms plus 50 years and six months’ imprisonment following his conviction on seven counts, including the premeditated murder of Luzuko Shepherd Meje (24) and the attempted murder of three police officers.
