Mozambican Nationals Sentenced To 15 Years For Cable Theft

The Pretoria North Magistrates’ Court sentenced two Mozambican nationals Joel Kabene (34) and July Sithole (34), to 15 years of direct imprisonment for tampering with or destroying essential infrastructure.  They were also sentenced to two years imprisonment, for being illegal in the country. The judge ordered the sentence should run concurrently and they also be declared unfit to possess a firearm. 

Father Sentenced For Rape Of His Daughter

The Nelspruit Sexual offences Court convicted and sentenced a 34-year-old man from Masoyi to 22 years of direct imprisonment for raping his biological daughter (17). In April 2019, the victim was summoned to visit her grandparent’s place, so that her father can perform the ritual for her. She left her mother’s place, where she was residing, and went to granny’s place, whom she found alone and was instructed to wait for the father.

Enyobeni Tavern Manager Appears In Court

The manager of Enyobeni Tavern, where 21 youths died in the early hours of 26 May 2022,  briefly appeared in the East London Magistrates' Court today.  Siyakwamkela Ndevu (52), faces charges of selling or supplying intoxicating liquor, to persons under 18 years of age, and for conniving with and permitting employees and agents to sell or supply or deliver intoxicating liquor, to persons under the age of 18 years. 

Former Senior Police Officer Convicted Of Fraud

A former member of the South African Police Services, Johan Frederic Colonel(62), has been found guilty and convicted by the Kimberley Magistrates’ Court.  The accused, a former Lieutenant Colonel, was charged with submitting fraudulent travel claims, while he was still serving in the South African Police Service. In 2019, the accused was supposed to attend a work-related workshop in Pretoria, but the session was postponed before the accused could travel.

70 In Court For Trespassing On Isimangaliso Wetland Park

A group of seventy (70) people appeared in the Mtubtuba Magistrates' Court yesterday, on charges of trespassing and malicious injury to property, in the Futululu Forest, which falls under the iSimangaliso Wetland Park. 

Two More Accused Added To Cases Against The Feared Khayelitsha Gang Boss

The Cape Town Magistrates Court added Wandile Tofile and Manelisi Ngumla, as co-accused to the cases against Yanga Nyalara, initially charged alone with twelve counts of murder, four counts of attempted murder, a count of illegal possession of a firearm and a count of illegal possession of ammunition. This morning Nyalara, also known as “Bara”, and Tofile were charged with 12 counts of murder, four counts of attempted murder, a count of illegal possession of a firearm and a count of illegal possession of ammunition.

Man Sentenced For Killing Ex- Girlfriend’s Mother

The Nelspruit Regional Court sentenced Khulu Bhuti Khumalo (48), from Clau Clau, Ka Bokweni, to 15 years of direct imprisonment for killing his ex-girlfriend’s mother, Sibongile Msimango (65). The accused was further convicted and sentenced for unlawful possession of an unlicensed firearm and possession of ammunition. He was dating the daughter of the deceased until their relationship ended.

More Alleged Instigators Of The July 2021 Public Violence Appear In Court

A further eight people appeared in the Durban Magistrates' Court today, on charges of conspiracy to commit public violence, incitement to commit public violence and incitement to commit arson, relating to the acts of looting and public violence that took place in parts of KwaZulu-Natal during July 2021. 

Pair In Court For Defrauding Dept. Of Health

Two accused, Charity Moloi and Ndumiso Ngcobo, appeared in the Pietermaritzburg Magistrates’ Court today on charges of fraud and money laundering. Their appearance relates to the defrauding of the Department of Health, to the value of over R1 million. The State is alleging that between 2000 and 2001, Moloi who was the Acting Finance Manager at Grey’s Hospital in Pietermaritzburg, defrauded the Department of Health over R1 million.
