Case against alleged serial rapist set for trial
The High Court of South Africa; North West Division, sitting at the Klerksdorp Regional Court, postponed the case against Johannes Ontsheketse Tshabile (43), to 16 October 2023 for trial. Tshabile is facing 22 charges of rape, 9 of robbery with aggravating circumstances, 5 of attempted murder, 17 of assault, 7 of attempted robbery and 5 of theft.

NPA 05-22/23 - Received - Appointment of a service provider to provide maintenance and repairs of x-ray machines and walkthrough metal detectors to the NPA.

Councilor charged with statutory rape abandons bail
The Orkney Magistrates’ Court postponed the case against Tebogo Sepale (43), a Councillor at the Matlosana Local Municipality to 24 August 2023 for further investigations. He was due to register a formal bail application but opted to abandon it, following consultations with his attorney. The state is now awaiting the conclusion of investigations to possibly add more charges against the accused in preparation for trial.

The Madadeni Regional Court has sentenced a 46 year-old man, to two life terms of imprisonment for the rape of his nieces aged 13 and six years old. The girls in this matter are cousins, and they were raped on various occasions by the man, who lived with them in the same homestead. In 2015, he raped a 13 year-old girl on two different occasions when her granny was not around. The six year-old was raped in 2019, also when she was alone at home.
