RAPIST SENTENCED TO 15 YEARS’ IMPRISONMENT BY SCHWEIZER-RENEKE REGIONAL COURT

Schweizer-Reneke, North West- The Schweizer-Reneke Regional Court has convicted and sentenced a 24-year-old man, Thabo Thabang Mongalane, to fifteen years' direct imprisonment for rape. The conviction stems from an incident that occurred on 31 October 2020, when Mongalane and his friends planned an outing to Wentzel Dam in Schweizer-Reneke.

ASSAULT CASE FINALISED 

The case of S vs Mduduzi Myeza was finalised yesterday, in the Estcourt Magistrates' Court. Myeza is the mayor of Estcourt, and he was charged with one count of assault. It was alleged that he assaulted the complainant during a work-related incident. The matter was finalised using an Alternative Dispute Resolution Method (ADRM).

MAN SENTENCED TO 10 YEARS IMPRISONMENT FOR RAPING HIS GIRLFRIEND 

Garies, Northern Cape - Mario Kobus (38) has been convicted and sentenced to 10 years of direct imprisonment for raping his girlfriend, who is also the mother of his child, by the Garies Regional Court. Furthermore, the accused was declared unfit to possess a firearm in terms of Section 103 of the Firearms Control Act 103 of 2000.

15-YEAR SENTENCE FOR MAN WHO KILLED HIS FRIEND 

Garies, Northern Cape – The Garies Regional Court has sentenced Juandre Smith (25) to 15 years direct imprisonment, with 5 years suspended for 5 years, after convicting him of the murder of his friend, 39-year-old Quinton Makatees. The incident took place in Klipfontein, Northern Cape, in June 2024. Evidence before the court revealed that Smith and Makatees had been friends who regularly spent time together.

LIFE IMPRISONMENT FOR RAPIST 

The Ulundi Regional Court has sentenced a 43-year-old man to life imprisonment for the rape of a 20-year-old woman in December 2022 in the Ezimfabeni area. On the day of the incident, the complainant was on her way to her child's paternal homestead.

LIFE AND FIVE YEARS IMPRISONMENT FOR RAPE AND SEXUAL ASSAULT 

The Mtubatuba Regional Court has sentenced a 34-year-old man to life and five years imprisonment for the rape and sexual assault of two children aged seven and five years old in the KwaMsane area in December 2023.

TEMBISA SERIAL RAPIST SENTENCED TO THREE LIFE TERMS 

Johannesburg, Gauteng- The High Court of South Africa, Gauteng Division in Johannesburg, sentenced serial rapist Musa Maicana (27) to three life terms plus over 300 years for a spate of rapes committed in and around Tembisa from April 2014 to June 2019.

TWO MEN SENTENCED TO LENGTHY PRISON TERMS FOR BURNING A CHILD ALIVE OVER STOLEN DAGGA 

Upington, Northern Cape – The Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions in the Northern Cape welcomes the conviction and sentencing of Elvis Bongani Sikepe (41) and Thomas Christopher Lebitsa (21) by the High Court of South Africa, Northern Cape Division, Gariep Local Circuit Court sitting in Upington, for the brutal murder of 14-year-old Cashwin Theo Diteho.
