High Court Convicts Father of Culpable Homicide in Death of Three-Month-Old Baby

Upington, Northern Cape – The High Court of South Africa, Northern Cape Division, sitting in Upington, has found Henry Manolo (31), a Malawian national, guilty of culpable homicide for the death of his three-month-old baby, Henzo, and assaulting the child’s mother. He was also convicted of contravening Section 49(1) of the Immigration Act 13 of 2002, as he was in the country illegally.

Lengthy Jail Term for Skukuza Poacher

The Skukuza Regional Court has sentenced Silas Mathebula (38), a Mozambican national, to 30 years of direct imprisonment for poaching-related offences committed in 2019. Mathebula was convicted of multiple charges, including trespassing, conspiracy to commit a crime, killing three rhinos, possession of a prohibited firearm, possession of an unlicensed firearm, possession of a hunting rifle, and possession of ammunition.

Motswedi Village Bank Manager Sentenced for Theft

The Specialised Commercial Crime Court sitting in Mmabatho has sentenced Gaananngwe Shadrack Kgosiemang (58) to direct imprisonment for eleven counts of theft. The court ordered that all counts be taken as one for sentencing. Kgosiemang was sentenced to ten years' imprisonment, with five years suspended for five years, effectively serving five years behind bars.
