POLICE OFFICER SENT TO JAIL FOR MURDER OF HER HUSBAND
The High Court of South Africa, Gauteng Division in Pretoria, has sentenced Police Sergeant Kate Lindiwe Hlongwane (47), attached to Dube Police Station under Visible Policing, to 17 years’ direct imprisonment for the murder of her husband, Russel Hlongwane (40), the father of their three children.

Limpopo, South Africa – The Mokopane Regional Court has convicted and sentenced Yvonne Maja (25) of Ga-Rakgwatha to an effective 20 years’ imprisonment after finding her guilty of attempted murder and assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm (GBH). Maja was sentenced to 18 years’ imprisonment for attempted murder and an additional two years’ imprisonment for assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm, with the sentences ordered to run consecutively.

Standerton , Mpumalanga, The Standerton Regional Court has convicted and sentenced Thokozani Mthimkhulu (29) to life imprisonment for raping a 36-year-old woman on multiple occasions in February 2024 in Standerton. The complainant and the accused were known to each other, as the accused was in a relationship with the daughter of the complainant’s friend.
