Alleged Killer Case Postponed For A Formal Bail Application

The case of a man who allegedly killed his grandmother has been postponed to 16 March 2022, for a formal bail application by the Nelspruit Magistrates' Court. During his first appearance last week, the accused elected to conduct his defence and today he changed his mind and elected to use the services of Legal Aid South Africa.

Murder And Rape Case Postponed For Further Investigations

A murder and rape case against Samuel John Noko (34),  was deferred by the Moretele Magistrates' Court to 12 April 2022, for a formal requisition by the state. He is charged with murder, defeating the ends of justice and rape. He allegedly murdered Monni Monyeki (29) and buried her in a shallow grave near a river in Mathibestad. He is facing a further charge of rape on a 14-year-old related to the deceased. 

A July Unrest Looter Gets Six Years Imprisonment

The Durban Regional Court sentenced Mvelo Majola,  to six years imprisonment after he pleaded guilty to the theft of a motor vehicle during the looting and civil unrest that took place in KwaZulu-Natal in July 2021. The vehicle, a Hino truck was one of nine vehicles stolen from Pharmed Pharmaceuticals in Riverhorse Valley on Nandi Drive. In his plea, Majola said, he knew of some people that participated in the looting spree, and one of them had given him the vehicle.

Serial Killer Sentenced To Six Life Terms And 17 Years Imprisonment

Swellendam, Western Cape: Serial killer Brian Mudyiwayana has been sentenced to six life terms and 17 years imprisonment, and the court declared he deserved to be permanently removed from society. On Monday, Mudyiwayana was convicted for the premeditated murders of Moleboheng Mafata, Gladys Ntondini, Grace Nyasha Hondo, Naume Gwengwe, Lungelwa Dangatye and Michael Pekaan. He was also convicted on a count of robbery with aggravating circumstances and two counts of the Contravention of the Refugees Act, 130 of 1998.

Eighty-Seven Suspected Illegal Miners Appeared In Court

The Stilfontein Regional Court postponed the case against eighty-seven(87) suspects who are facing charges related to illegal mining at shaft 2 in Orkney to 06 April 2022, for further investigations. The defence attorney has requested a postponement to negotiate with the state, on undisclosed aspects of the case.

Police Officers Sentenced For Taking Bribes

Bellville, Western Cape: Two police officers have been sentenced to direct imprisonment, after they accepted money to return dagga they confiscated during a search and seizure. The court sentenced Gerald Nolan van Nel and Justin Mthetheleli Mhlontlo to an effective five years imprisonment each, after their conviction on a charge of corruption.
