CHILD IN CONFLICT WITH THE LAW HANDED MAXIMUM SENTENCE

Cape Town, South Africa; The High Court of South Africa: Western Cape Division has sentenced a child in conflict with the law to an effective 25-year direct imprisonment following his conviction for the murder of Deveney Nel and an attempt to defeat the course of justice. In this case, 25 years of direct imprisonment is the maximum sentence the accused could receive under the law.

MAGAQA MURDER ACCUSED BACK IN COURT

Mbulelo Mpofana, Sbonelo Myeza and Zweliphansi Stanley Skhosana appeared in the Pietermaritzburg High Court today. They are charged in connection with the murder of former ANC Youth League Secretary General Sindiso Jethro Magaqa. Magaqa was killed in July 2017 in Mzimkhulu.

LIFE IMPRISONMENT FOR MURDERER

The Dundee Regional Court has sentenced Themba Mthethwa (31) to life imprisonment for the murder of a man, Sfundo Ndaba (37) in February 2023 in the Pomeroy area. On 11 February 2023, Mthethwa, Ndaba and a witness had attended a funeral in the area. After the funeral, the witness was going home when he saw Mthethwa and Ndaba going to a nearby house where alcohol was sold.
