LIFE IMPRISONMENT FOR MAN WHO RAPED HIS OWN MOTHER
Bloemfontein, Free State – The National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) in the Free State welcomes the sentence of life imprisonment imposed on Lebogang Kolokotoane (34) by the Sexual Offences Court in Bloemfontein for the rape of his 56-year-old mother, as well as for a separate rape and robbery committed in 2015.

LIFE IMPRISONMENT FOR RAPIST
The KwaDukuza Regional Court has sentenced a 35-year-old man to life imprisonment for the rape of a 12-year-old girl in July 2022 in the Lindelani area. The accused, a Zimbabwean national who is illegally in South Africa, was sentenced to a further six months' imprisonment for contravening the Immigration Act.

TWO LIFE TERMS PLUS 15 YEARS FOR MAN WHO RAPED AND KILLED AN ELDERLY WOMAN
Mafikeng, North West – The National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) in the North West Division welcomes the hefty sentence imposed on Ofentse Petrus Seilane (40) by the North West High Court. The sentencing was delivered on 21 October 2025, following his conviction on charges of murder, rape, and robbery with aggravating circumstances.

THREE LIFE TERMS FOR WELL-KNOWN WELKOM LAWYER WHO SEXUALLY ABUSED MINORS
Welkom, Free State – The High Court in Bloemfontein has sentenced Jan Gysbert Maritz (58), a practising lawyer from Dagbreek, Welkom, to three life terms plus 68 years’ imprisonment for 16 counts of serious sexual offences against five minor victims.

POLICE OFFICER FOUND GUILTY OF PREMEDITATED MURDER OF HER HUSBAND
Pretoria – The High Court of South Africa, Gauteng Division in Pretoria, has found Police Sergeant Kate Lindiwe Hlongwane (45), attached to the Dube Police Station under Visible Policing, guilty of the premeditated murder of her husband, Russel Hlongwane (40), who was also the father of their three children.
