Serial Killer Sentenced To Six Life Terms And 17 Years Imprisonment

Swellendam, Western Cape: Serial killer Brian Mudyiwayana has been sentenced to six life terms and 17 years imprisonment, and the court declared he deserved to be permanently removed from society. On Monday, Mudyiwayana was convicted for the premeditated murders of Moleboheng Mafata, Gladys Ntondini, Grace Nyasha Hondo, Naume Gwengwe, Lungelwa Dangatye and Michael Pekaan. He was also convicted on a count of robbery with aggravating circumstances and two counts of the Contravention of the Refugees Act, 130 of 1998.

Eighty-Seven Suspected Illegal Miners Appeared In Court

The Stilfontein Regional Court postponed the case against eighty-seven(87) suspects who are facing charges related to illegal mining at shaft 2 in Orkney to 06 April 2022, for further investigations. The defence attorney has requested a postponement to negotiate with the state, on undisclosed aspects of the case.

Police Officers Sentenced For Taking Bribes

Bellville, Western Cape: Two police officers have been sentenced to direct imprisonment, after they accepted money to return dagga they confiscated during a search and seizure. The court sentenced Gerald Nolan van Nel and Justin Mthetheleli Mhlontlo to an effective five years imprisonment each, after their conviction on a charge of corruption.

Grandson Charged For Grandmother’s Murder

Jay Peters, a 25-year-old man appeared before the Nelspruit Magistrates’ Court earlier this morning, facing charges of murder, malicious damage to property and defeating the ends of justice.

The accused was residing with his grandmother Susanna Kilmister(68), in Cromdale farm, Nelspruit.

Rapist Father Gets Life Imprisonment

The Verulam Regional Court sentenced a 32-year-old man to life imprisonment, for the rape of his 10-year-old biological daughter in November 2019. The incident took place in the Cottonlands area. The girl and her eight-year-old brother visited their father who lived with their granny.  They found him alone in his room, as their granny had gone out. After speaking to them for a while, the man gave the boy his cellphone and sent him to another room, while he closed the door and raped the girl.

President Appoints Advocate Andrea Johnson As New Head Of Investigating Directorate

President Ramaphosa has appointed Advocate Andrea Johnson as the new head of the Investigating Directorate (ID) in the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA). The appointment follows the departure of the previous head, Advocate Hermione Cronje, who is leaving the post at the end of February 2022. We thank Advocate Cronje for her efforts in the challenging start-up phase of the ID.

Rape And Murder Cases At Two Peaceful Southern Cape Towns

Riversdale, Western Cape: A man has been sentenced to 10 years imprisonment following his conviction for the rape of his daughter in Resiesbaan. The accused cannot be named to protect the identity of the  29-year-old daughter he raped on 7 March 2020, the court sentenced him after he pleaded guilty to the charge of rape. The court heard the complainant stayed with her parents on a farm and on the day of the incident, the father and daughter were under the influence of alcohol.
