Man Sentenced To Life Imprisonment For Rape
The Bafokeng Regional Court sentenced Katlego Rakgafela (31), to life imprisonment on a charge of rape. Rakgafela’s conviction emanates from an incident that occurred on 05 May 2018, in Phokeng, whereat the complainant and her friend were having drinks at a tavern. They later left the place at around 23h00 to go home, and Rakgafela decided to follow them. Shortly after the victim’s friend went into her yard, Rakgafela accosted the complainant and pulled her to the side of the road and raped her.
Former Implats Senior Accountant Convicted For Fraud And Money Laundering
The Specialised Commercial Crime Court sitting in Tlhabane convicted Hlengiwe Masilela (56), on 24 counts of fraud and 23 of money laundering committed at Impala Platinum Ltd (Implats) in 2008, amounting to approximately R850 000. She was sentenced to 5 years imprisonment, which was wholly suspended for five years. The court took into consideration her state of health, as she is on 24-hour oxygen support.

United Kingdom court grants the NPA’s ID right to extradite fugitive from R745 million Eskom case
The NPA Investigating Directorate through the aid of the Department of Justice and UK based lawyers successfully argued for the extradition of United Kingdom (UK) fugitive, Michael Lomas.
The Westminster Magistrates Court based in London, UK issued judgment yesterday (15 December 2022), that Lomas' extradition is to be sent to the UK Secretary of State under UN Convention against Corruption 2003, section 87(3).
The trial date was 13 - 14 October 2022. Further, written submissions were received by the court on 28 October and 11 November 2022.
