The former Head of KwaZulu-Natal Provincial Treasury, Dumisani Sipho Derrick Shabalala, was convicted of fraud, corruption, money laundering and contravention of the Public Finance Management Act (PFMA) in the Durban High Court yesterday. His conviction relates to his receipt of R1.5 million, from Intaka Investments for the acquisition of ‘Wataka’ water purification plants valued at R44 million.
Man Sent To Jail For Mob Justice
The High Court of South Africa: The Mpumalanga High Court has today convicted and sentenced Line Mfana Mhlongo (36), from Welverdiend Trust in Bushbuckridge to twenty years direct imprisonment for the murder of Ishmail Nyathi (23). Mhlongo was charged along with his four co-accused, who were acquitted due to insufficient evidence on their part.

The High Court of South Africa: The Middelburg High Court convicted and sentenced Shaggy David Mgidi( 43), from Ga- Phaahla in Siyabuswa, to four life terms and eighty years imprisonment, for four counts of rapes, five counts of robbery with aggravating circumstances and one count of housebreaking. All these offences were committed in Siyabuswa, in the District of KwaMhlanga, where the accused would terrorize the community, rape them and rob them of their belongings, like cell phones and clothes.
A Man Accused Of Killing A Pregnant Partner Was Denied Bail
The Kimberley District Court has denied bail to Aldean Wilkinson (30), who is facing a schedule 5 murder charge. The accused is assumed to have stabbed his 28-year-old pregnant girlfriend.
On 15 May 2022, the Police were called to the home of the victim, and when they arrive, they found the body of the deceased with stab wounds. The accused was arrested on 16 May 2022, after he handed himself to the police.
End Of The Road For Former Fugitive And Murderer
Former fugitive from justice and murderer Gerhardus Jansen van Vuuren was convicted by the High Court of South Africa Gauteng Local Division, Johannesburg. Jansen van Vuuren was convicted of premeditated murder, for stabbing his girlfriend, Andrea Venter, multiple times, resulting in her death in 2011. Venter's throat was slit by Jansen van Vuuren, next to the exit of the complex she resided in, as she ran towards the guard house to seek help.
Teacher Convicted For Voting 24 Times During Local Government Elections
The Durban Regional Court sentenced Nomusa Precious Gabuza (37), to three years of correctional supervision and four years imprisonment, wholly suspended for three years, after she pleaded guilty to Contravention of the Local Government Municipal Electoral Act 2000. In her plea, Gabuza mentioned that she was an educator at a school in Durban, which was also used as a voting station during the Local Government Elections in October 2021.
