Three suspects, Bongi Mbili, Devika Seeripat and Madodile Nkhula, have appeared in court in connection with the death of Ashrika Seeripat, in Umzinto last month. They face charges of conspiracy to commit murder and murder.

The Mthatha Regional Court sentenced Eric Manyinkawu (30), to two life imprisonment terms, for twice raping a 60-year-old woman, on two different occasions. The court ordered the sentence to run consecutively. The victim was in an abusive relationship with Manyinkawu, and they stayed in the same homestead at Zithathele Area, in the district of Libode.

The Former Head of the Department (HOD) for the Northern Cape Department of Finance, Economic Development, and Tourism; Patrick Seboko (66), and three senior officials of the department, Senior Manager: Project Team (responsible for Diamond Strategy); Tebogo Gaborone (60), Chief Director: Trade and Sector Development; Susan Wyngaard (56) and Chief Financial Officer (CFO); Kuberin Packirisamy(60), have made a brief appearance in the Specialised Commercial Crimes Court in Kimberley today.

The four men, Vusi Reginald Mathibela (36), known as Vusi Khekhe, Sipho Patrick Hudla (40), Matamela Robert Mutapa (46) and Bongani Paul Khumalo (48), were convicted of killing a businessman Wandile Bozwana, appeared at the Pretoria High Court, for sentencing proceedings. However, their legal representatives asked the court for a further postponement, and expert the witness to consult with the accused, and the recipient of the signed judgement. 

The Rustenburg Regional Court postponed the case against Betty Diale(52), to 29 August 2022, for negotiations. She is out on a warning and has been cautioned not to interfere with the state witnesses.  The matter was set for a pre-trial, however, her defence attorney indicated to the court that they intend to enter negotiations, with the state about the charges. The state did not oppose the postponement.

The trial of Ndumiseni Khetha Zuma (35) was set to begin in the Pietermaritzburg Regional Court today. While the State was ready to proceed, to the effect that witnesses were warned to be in court, the matter was postponed at the behest of the defence.

The Ladysmith Regional Court, sentenced Siphesihle Majola(33), Sibusiso Dladla (39), Nduduzo Xulu (22), Thulani Mbhele (42), Sithembiso Mbuyazi (36) and Bongani Nxumalo (35), to 15 years imprisonment each, for the robbery they committed in Ladysmith in November 2019.

The Limpopo Polokwane High Court has sentenced a 41-year-old man, Leshate Lazarus Mahlo, of Ga Makanye village, to 22 years of direct imprisonment, for robbery with aggravating circumstances and two counts of murder. The accused, Lazarus pleaded guilty to two counts of murder, and robbery with aggravating circumstances, he was convicted and sentenced as charged.

An accused Lawak Lorenzo Henzel (23), has made a brief appearance in the Petrusville District Court, where he is facing a charge of murder. The accused is alleged to have stabbed his 03-year-old stepson to death. During his appearance, the accused did not indicate his intention to apply for bail.
