John Jim Crew (56), from Concordia in the Northern Cape, has been denied bail by the Springbok Magistrates’ Court, on a charge of rape. The accused is an official in the Northern Cape Department of Education and is accused of having raped a 09-year-old girl. It is alleged that on 06 May 2022, the accused raped the minor and the incident was reported to the police by the mother.

The National Prosecuting Authority welcomes the successful conviction and sentencing of two German Nationals, Daniël Löhde and Marko Drescher, by the Upington Regional Court.

The Gauteng Division: Pretoria High Court, sentenced robbers, Henrico Fourie (39), Fannie Morris Mbuyani (30), Jasias Lucus Maseko (48) and Lazarus Ntlatleng (28), to 30 years of direct imprisonment, for robbing SBV PTY LTD cash in transit, worth over R25 million.

The Municipal Manager of Thulamela Local Municipality, Hlengane Emanuel Maluleke (52), and the former Mayor of Thulamela, Avhashoni Stephen Tshifhango (49), have appeared briefly in Polokwane Specialised Commercial Crimes Court for corruption. The two were arrested on allegations of corruption and maladministration, in connection with the Venda Building Society Mutual Bank (VBS).

William Lesiba Mokhonwana, and 28 others including their companies, appeared in Polokwane Specialised Commercial Crimes Court. The accused are facing one hundred and twenty-one (121) counts of corruption, three of money laundering and conspiracy to commit corruption.

The fight against gender-based violence received a much-desired boost as rapist and murderer, Leonard Mzingeli, was sentenced to three life terms and 15 years imprisonment. The High Court of South Africa: Western Cape Division convicted Mzingeli, on two counts of rape, attempted murder and murder. He was sentenced to life imprisonment for the rape of Grace Mafadu,  15 years imprisonment for her attempted murder, life imprisonment for the rape of Amahle Quku, and life imprisonment for her murder.

The Jan Kempsdorp Magistrates’ Court has denied bail, to Aobakwe Johnny, who is facing a charge of rape. The 26-year-old suspect is accused of having raped a 08-year-old girl, in the town of Jan Kempsdorp which is 100kms from the City of Kimberley. It is alleged that on 01 March 2022, the accused raped the minor near her home in Masakeng.
