Two Suspects Appear on an Assault Charge - Murder and Kidnapping Not Ruled Out

Taung Magistrates’ Court postponed the case against Rebaone Malekanyo (32) and Tumelo Tlonkwe (31) to 04 January 2022 for bail application and further investigations, the pair are charged with assault causing grievous bodily harm and police are also investigating a case of kidnapping and murder. 

Their court appearance emanates from an incident that allegedly occurred at Modimong village on 31 October 2021, when the two were spotted by Tshepang Seelo (32) and his girlfriend stealing some items at a nearby house while walking from a nearby tavern. They then accosted the couple and started assaulting them, and subsequently took Seelo and left his girlfriend on the road while his lifeless body was later found in a furrow on 03 November 2021.

The duo handed themselves at Taung police station on 2 November 2021 and they will remain in police custody until their next court appearance.
