Porsche Driver To Appear In Court For Fatal Crash

The Porsche driver that allegedly fatally hit South African triathlete Andre Piehl, and injured a fellow cyclist when they were returning from a training ride on Saturday morning 29 January 2022, near Lanseria, will appear in the Randburg Magistrates' Court on Monday 07 February 2022. This after the matter was not placed on the roll when it was brought to the prosecution on Monday 31 January 2022, due to outstanding investigations.

The National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) worked with the South African Police Service (SAPS), Harrington Johnson Attorneys, the family’s appointed watching brief, as well as the members of the public in ensuring that the matter passed the evidential test to meet the requirement of prospects of a successful prosecution.

We extend our gratitude to all members of the public that co-operated with the ongoing investigation. The NPA will continue to guide and monitor the investigation process until its conclusion to present a formidable case.
