The Butterworth Regional Court sentenced Sindile Lennox Somdaka (55), to life imprisonment for rape.  He was also sentenced to three years for kidnapping and 12 months for assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm, with the later sentences ordered to run concurrently with the life sentence. On the morning of 17 May 2019, the 19-year-old victim was hitchhiking from Butterworth to her home village of Mngomanzi.

George: Western Cape - Rapist and murderer Revticken Patrick Muller, has been sentenced to a life term and 10 years imprisonment after he was convicted for the rape and murder of Bianca Chantel Matroos. He was convicted by the Western Cape High Court a month ago, for the crimes he committed on Matroos on 15 November 2019, after a night out at a nightclub in George. Muller was sentenced to life imprisonment for premeditated murder and 10 years imprisonment for rape.

Bellville, Western Cape: A 61-year-old man John Collins Februarie, has been sentenced to three years imprisonment after his plan to defraud the South African Revenue Service(SARS) of more than 4 million Rands was thwarted. Februarie was convicted on five counts of fraud, three counts of Contravention of the Tax Administration Act, four counts of uttering and six counts of the Contravention of the Value Added Tax Act.

On 28 January 2022 President Cyril Ramaphosa signed into law, legislation aimed at strengthening efforts to end gender-based violence (GBV), with a victim-focused approach on combating the scourge of GBV.

Bloemfontein: A 36-year-old man from Clocolan was sentenced to six life terms by the High Court of South Africa: Free State Division sitting in Ladybrand after he was found guilty of raping his 14-year-old daughter six times. Judge Pina Mathebula sentenced the father, who cannot be named to protect the identity of his daughter between May and July 2021.

The four accused in the Senzo Meyiwa murder matter, Muzikawukhulelwa Sthemba Sibiya (34), Bongani Sandiso Ntanzi (30), Mthobisi Prince Ncube (36) and Mthokoziseni Ziphozonke Maphisa (35), appeared in the Pretoria High Court for an enquiry, on whether they retain their current legal representatives or have engaged the services of Adv. Teffo. The accused each confirmed to the Judge, that they have terminated the services of their previous legal representatives and have indeed appointed Adv. Teffo to represent them.

The Mpumalanga High Court sitting in Graskop has today sentenced Fanni Poloane (31) and Keletso Sesi Maimela (32) both from Burgersfort to twenty-five imprisonment for the murder of an eighteen-month-old girl child. This is after the pair were convicted of murder and defeating the ends of justice .

Keletso Sesi is the biological mother of the deceased and the two were in a relationship staying together at Ga-Madiseng Riba Cross in Lydenburg.

Cape Town: Taxi driver Luvo Mlandu, has been sentenced to an effective 25 years imprisonment after he confessed to the murder of traffic officer Deon Dennis Sampson, attempted murder of traffic officers Sandiso Mbongela and Arthur Releli and the contravention of the National Road Traffic Act.
