MAN APPEARS IN COURT FOR TEMBISA CEMETERY MURDER

Matome Victor Rampedi(36) appeared before the Tembisa Magistrates’ Court in connection with the murder of Ntombifuthu Nxumalo, whose body was discovered at Mooifontein Cemetery in the Vusimusi Section of Tembisa on 26 September 2026.

Rampedi faces a charge of murder following the discovery of Nxumalo's body at the cemetery. The deceased was found naked and had sustained serious head injuries. The State alleges that she was fatally assaulted.

It is further alleged that the deceased had been drinking at a local tavern with a female acquaintance before leaving the premises in the company of the accused. Preliminary investigations revealed that residents living near the cemetery allegedly heard a woman screaming and pleading for her life during the incident.

Following investigations, the accused was traced to an address in Tembisa. Police subsequently established that he had fled to Limpopo Province, where he was later arrested in Mohlabaneng Village with the assistance of members of the South African Police Service in Limpopo.

The matter was postponed to 06 October 2026 for further bail investigations. The accused remains in custody.

The National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) remains unwavering in its commitment to combating violence against women and ensuring that perpetrators of such crimes are brought to justice. The NPA will continue to prosecute this matter without fear, favour, or prejudice in pursuit of justice for the victim and her family.
