NPA READY TO PROCEED WITH RAPE CASE AGAINST 56-YEAR-OLD ACCUSED

Johannesburg – The 56-year-old accused, Tshepo Ntsimane, made his first before the Gauteng Division of the High Court in Johannesburg today on a charge of rape.

The matter was postponed to 03 September 2026 for a pre-trial conference. The charge relates to the alleged rape of a 12-year-old girl in Dobsonville, Soweto. It is alleged that the incident occurred on 03 April 2026 at the accused's residence.

Ntsimane, who is alleged well known within the community, was arrested on 04 April 2026 and subsequently charged with rape. The National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) has finalised its preparations and is ready to proceed with the matter when it returns to court. 

The State remains committed to presenting its case effectively and ensuring that justice is pursued in accordance with the law. The NPA continues to prioritise the prosecution of cases involving the sexual abuse and exploitation of children, recognising the devastating impact that such offences have on victims, their families and communities. 

The prosecution of crimes against children remains a key priority, and the NPA is committed to ensuring that these matters are dealt with expeditiously and without undue delay.
