Business Persons Appear In Court For Allegedly Defrauding SARS Of Millions Of Rands

Director of PSR Solutions PTY LTD, Suzan Pheladi Raphela (32), and director of SA Business Accountant and Associates Sibusiso Sanele Mhlongo (29) appeared at the Pretoria Specialised Commercial Crimes Court briefly.  They are facing a charge of non-registration of VAT, 4 counts of fraud of more than R10 Millions of Tax invasion and 6 counts of  non-submission of tax returns

The two, including their companies, allegedly defrauded the South African Revenue Service (SARS), after PSR Solutions PTY LTD received a Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) tender amounting to R45 Million from the South African Police Service (SAPS) on 03 April 2020.

It is alleged that at the time PSR Solutions PTY LTD, received the tender from SAPS and the company was not registered as a VAT vendor.  However, when the company eventually registered as a VAT vendor in June 2020, it failed to disclose the R45 million payment received from SAPS, and therefore did not return its tax value. The company declared the VAT of the 45 Million to SARS, after being notified of the Audit and fraudulently claimed R4.4 Million, with the assistance of SA Business Accountant and Associates, a company that did tax returns on behalf of PSR Solutions PTY LTD without valid supporting documents.

The matter was postponed to 02 August for disclosure of the docket.
