TWO ILLEGAL MOZAMBICAN NATIONALS APPEAR IN COURT ON DRUG-RELATED CHARGES

The National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) confirms that two Mozambican nationals, Jose Vaso Sete (53) and Arlindo Fernand (44), appeared briefly before the Atteridgeville Magistrates' Court on charges of manufacturing drugs and contravening immigration act by being in the country illegally.

It is alleged that the National office of Directorate for Priority Crimes Investigations (DPCI) received an intel about the exitance of a drug manufacturing lab around Erasmia in Centurion Pretoria.  After investigations by the DPCI on 09 September 2026 various units within the police went to the area where the lab is located.  On their arrival they allegedly found the two accused attempting to run away, and they were apprehended by the police.

After their arrest the police discovered the drug lab inside the house with drug manufacturing equipment; drugs manufacturing materials and drugs at various stages of production as well as fully manufactured drugs worth approximately R110 million.

The matter was postponed to 18 September 2026 for the appointment of a foreign-language interpreter and for bail investigations.

Both accused were remanded in custody. The State intends to oppose their release on bail.
