Senior Government Officials' Cases Await A Suitable Date To Be Transferred To The High Court
The Former Head of the Department (HOD) for the Northern Cape Department of Finance, Economic Development, and Tourism; Patrick Seboko (66), and three senior officials of the department, Senior Manager: Project Team (responsible for Diamond Strategy); Tebogo Gaborone (60), Chief Director: Trade and Sector Development; Susan Wyngaard (56) and Chief Financial Officer (CFO); Kuberin Packirisamy(60), have made a brief appearance in the Specialised Commercial Crimes Court in Kimberley today.
The accused are facing numerous charges, including contraventions of the Provisions of the Public Finance Management Act (PFMA), Contraventions of the Diamond Act (dealing in uncut diamonds without a permit), and fraud. The case was previously postponed, as one of the accused legal representatives had requested the court to grant him time, to familiarize himself with the contents of the charge sheet.
All four accused remain out on R10000 bail, and the case was adjourned to 14 November 2022, for representations as well as a possible date, for the case to be transferred to the High Court in Kimberley.
