Post Office Alleged Robber Applies For Bail

The accused in the Post Office armed robbery, Frans Dillon Morakile, has appeared in the Galeshewe District Court, where he formally applied for bail. The accused is facing a charge of robbery, with aggravating circumstances. The 27-year-old is accused of having robbed the Post Office Branch, in Mankurwaneng near Kimberley. It is alleged that on the day of the commissioning of the crime, the accused together with his accomplice, entered the Post Office where they accosted and pointed employees with firearms.

During the robbery, the accused managed to take money, amounting to about R230 000, before fleeing on foot. The community members launch their crime-busting operation, to assist in looking for the suspects, and they successfully apprehended the accused, before handing him over to the Police. The accused was found with money running into thousands of rands, together with the firearms that were used during the robbery.

The matter has been adjourned to 02 August 2022, for judgement on the accused bail application. The Prosecution is opposing the bail application of the accused, as he is remanded in custody, until his next court appearance. Investigations are ongoing.
