A Man Accused Of Killing A Pregnant Partner Was Denied Bail

The Kimberley District Court has denied bail to Aldean Wilkinson (30), who is facing a schedule 5 murder charge. The accused is assumed to have stabbed his 28-year-old pregnant girlfriend.

On 15 May 2022, the Police were called to the home of the victim, and when they arrive, they found the body of the deceased with stab wounds. The accused was arrested on 16 May 2022, after he handed himself to the police.

The accused made a plea for bail, during the second appearance in the Kimberley Magistrates’ Court and which started on 31 May 2022. During the bail application, the Prosecution called the Police, who had to explain what they found when they arrived at the crime scene.

The police had reservations about the court granting the accused bail, the main reason being that the accused might interfere with witnesses, as some are known to him. Given the seriousness of the charges against the accused, the Prosecutor opposed bail, as it was in the best interest of justice not to be granted bail.

The accused is remanded in custody, until his next court appearance on 26 July 2022, while investigations are continuing in this matter.
