LIFE IMPRISONMENT FOR RAPIST FATHER
The Esikhawini Regional Court sentenced a 35-year-old man to a term of life imprisonment after her pleaded guilty (Section 112 Plea) to the rape of his 11-year-old daughter in January 2025 in the Mtunzini area. In his plea, the man said that on 01 January 2025, he was at home with his family members. His biological daughter was also there. He said he called her to his room and raped her. His sister walked in on them and asked him what was going on. The complainant was crying, and his sister took her away. The police were then called, and he was arrested.
The complainant was taken to the Ngwelezane Thuthuzela Care Centre (TCC) for support. In court, Prosecutor Kamogelo Nkwatle handed in a Victim Impact Statement compiled by the complainant and facilitated by Court Preparation Officer Ntombi Chonco. Therein the child indicated that she has suffered physical injuries as well as emotional and psychological damage. She said that she is performing poorly at school and is fearful.
The accused was sentenced to a term of life imprisonment, and the court declared him unfit to possess a firearm. Further, the court ordered that his name be entered into the National Register for Sex Offenders.
