Bookkeeper appears in court for fraud worth R1.6 million

The Pretoria Magistrates’ Court granted Yolanda Enslin (43) from Pretoria North, bail of R2000. She is facing a charge of fraud worth R1.6 million.

It is alleged that during her employment as a bookkeeper at Hatmed Medical Centre in Hatfield from March to October 2022, Enslin was responsible for sending authorised payments to distributors. In her capacity as bookkeeper, the accused defrauded the medical center by changing the distributors’ account details to hers and transferring the money to herself. When the complainant noticed shortage in medication stock, it was discovered that the medical center has been defrauded and a case was opened against the accused in October 2022. After investigation, Enslin was found at Hannies Bar in Montana where she was arrested on 04 July 2023.

The case has been remanded to 01 August 2023 for court allocation.
