FIVE MEN APPEAR IN COURT ON MURDER AND ROBBERY CHARGES

Five men appeared in the Verulam Magistrates' Court on 28 September 2026, facing charges of conspiracy to commit robbery with aggravating circumstances, robbery with aggravating circumstances, two counts of murder, unlawful possession of firearm, and unlawful possession of ammunition.

The accused are Simangaliso Tembe (39), Mduduzi Ntuthuko Myeza (46), Bongani Trulove Zulu (61), Wandile Ntuthuko Nyawo (38) and Sibusiso Sibisi (46)

The charge of conspiracy to commit robbery with aggravating circumstances is alleged to have been committed between February and April 2026. The remaining offences are alleged to have been committed on 30 April 2026.

The deceased, Captain Louis Nel and Sergeant Mandla Khuzwayo were members of the SAPS Crime Intelligence Unit, and the accused are alleged to have stolen cash amounting to approximately R900 000.

The matter was postponed to 16 October 2026 for bail application.
