OUPA BROWN MOGOTSI'S BAIL APPLICATION ON NEW FACTS CONTINUES

The Johannesburg Magistrates' Court has continued to hear the bail application on new facts brought by Oupa Brown Mogotsi, who is facing charges arising from the alleged Vosloorus shooting incident.

Mogotsi faces charges of unlawful possession of a firearm, unlawful possession of ammunition, discharging a firearm in a built-up area, defeating or obstructing the administration of justice, and perjury.

During proceedings on 01 September 2026, Mogotsi testified in support of his application and presented his version regarding the alleged escape plan. He was subsequently cross-examined by the State. The matter was postponed to 11 September 2026 for the continuation of the State's cross-examination.

It is alleged that on 03 November 2025, Mogotsi reported to the police that he had been driving alone in Vosloorus when occupants of a bakkie allegedly pursued him and fired multiple shots at his vehicle, forcing him to stop and flee on foot.

The National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) will continue to oppose the bail application and present its case before the court in accordance with the applicable legal processes.
